How to Plan Your Charlotte Wedding Proposal

A how-to guide to planning your surprise wedding proposal in Charlotte, NC

Popping the question can be nerve-wracking, to say the least. When I asked my wife to marry me, I could hardly get the words out! I’ve been where you are, and since then photographed proposals, and created this guide to make it a little easier to plan your wedding proposal.

Create your own story

This is your and your fiancé's love story, so take a moment to think about what's important to you two.  Has your fiancé ever mentioned liking someone's proposal story?  In years to come, when you and your fiancé tell the story and shares pictures, how do you want to remember it?

Pick the location

Charlotte has a lot of great locations for wedding proposals.  Consider a quiet place where you'll both feel comfortable and relaxed so you can focus on each other.  A location you can discretely reserve can be ideal, because it will be ready for you without any unexpected issues or crowds.

Select the time

Good pictures can be made at any time, but incorporating "golden hour" is always a great idea.  This is the hour before sunset, when the sun is low in the sky and the light is at its most flattering.

And if you've selected a public location where crowds can be an issue, Monday through Thursday are the best bet.

Decide what to say

"Will you marry me?," sounds simple, but you'll want to share more of yourself than just that one line.  With your emotions in overdrive though, it can be really hard to come up with just the right thing to say on the spot.  Write it out in advance:) Plus, you'll both treasure that little bit of paper in the years to come.

Getting the best pictures

Hiring a professional photographer to capture this one-in-a-lifetime moment is something you will not regret… and your fiancé will appreciate forever.  With my experience photographing proposal sessions in Charlotte, I can guide you through planning ahead and make sure your story is photographed beautifully.

Make the most of this opportunity

After your fiancé says yes, do a quick engagement photography session.  You'll already be dressed and in a place that from now on that you'll remember forever.   Plus, there will be so much emotion and joy in the air that the pictures will have that special spark that makes them priceless.

I’d love to hear about the proposal you might be considering, and help you capture it beautifully.
